Here at Layla’s Heart Ranch and Rescue, we are driven by a single goal; to do our part in making the world a better place for all. We are dedicated to saving the lives of at risk animals through rescue by providing shelter, medical care, training and rehabilitation until loving forever homes are found.
DOG RESCUE AND ANIMAL SANCTUARY
|Dogs of the Month|
Each month we will highlight an adoptable dog from a local shelter and/or rescue as well as an adoptable pet from Layla's Heart Ranch and Rescue. Adoption saves lives and we want to make sure we are sharing as many pets as we can. All animals deserve a home filled with love and kindness and should be treasured.
Ok, I mean look at this guy!! Could he be anymore adorable?! Nimbus is one of the 11 Harry Potter puppies that we rescued from living underneath a car when they were just six weeks old. Now at almost a year, he has grown into such a beautiful and smart pup. Nimbus loves to run and play, but he also enjoys giving and getting kisses. He would love a home with an active family that will make sure to play fetch and go for walks. Treats are one of his favorite things, along with snuggling with his hooman. Nimbus gets along with people of all ages as well as other dogs. If you think Nimbus should be your newest family member apply today to meet him, just fill out an adoption form on the website!

“Every man is guilty of all the good he did not do”
Layla's Heart Ranch and Rescue offers premier dog boarding in addition to our rescue efforts. We always go above and beyond to make sure that your pet's stay with us is fun and safe. We understand that leaving your pup in a safe and loving environment is important to you. It's important to us, too. Our kennels are cleaned daily and thoroughly with dog safe products. Your dog will enjoy two daily walks as well as individual play time each day they are with us. We do not do group play unless you bring in multiple dogs within the same family. Does your pet need daily medicine? We ensure that they get it! Your furry family member will be housed in a kennel that has an indoor and outdoor area and they can come and go as they please. We know you will miss your pet and they will surely miss you, so feel free to call and check in on them as often as you would like!
$50 per night
What is foster-to-adopt? Foster-to adopt is a great way to learn if one of our dogs is a good fit for your family prior to committing to adoption. When you foster-to adopt, you take the animal home as a foster and see if the relationship is meant to be. This way the dog can relax in your home and show its true personality. This also gets the dog into a home environment where they can live like a normal dog. If you decide to adopt the dog you will be required to pay the appropriate adoption fee.

MEET THE TEAM
The Faces of Our Organization
Katie Johnson, serves as the president and founder of Layla's Heart Ranch and Rescue, a dog rescue and animal sanctuary for Texas' most at risk pets and farm animals. A Colorado native and avid Denver Broncos fan, Katie has chosen to dedicate her career and life to rescuing, rehabilitating, training, and finding either forever homes or providing sanctuary for abused, neglected, and at risk animals. An animal lover since childhood, she grew up with dogs and named this rescue after her beloved golden retriever that passed away in 2018. She has experience as a foster, and volunteer and has completed training to become a high level dog handler. Katie specializes in "behavior dogs" and believes that every animal deserves a chance to have a beautiful life. When she isn't with the animals at the rescue, Katie enjoys spending time with her two year old son and watching him grow and learn. She is a very proud mother and also has three rescue dogs of her own. Katie strives to make the world a better place for her son to grow up and for all creatures on this Earth.
Director of Operations
Kevin Johnson, Layla's Heart Ranch and Rescue's director of operations hails from Denver, Colorado. Kevin has had a deep love and connection with animals from a young age, which he passed down to his children. He moved to Texas to help his daughter with her dog rescue and animal sanctuary by utilizing his master carpentry skills. A carpenter for over 30 years, Kevin has built everything from custom homes, fencing, stables and barns to horse corrals. When he isn't working on the ranch Kevin enjoys playing football and soccer with his grandson and spending time with his family. He has four children and a rescue fur-baby, Eyce, which he adopted from a local animal shelter.
